Best Instagram Unfollower Trackers in 2026: Chrome Extensions Compared

Last verified October 19, 2026 · Written and verified by Vladyslav Verbytskyi

Short answer: Instagram does not tell you who unfollowed you and has no "not following back" list, so every tracker works the same way: it reads your followers and following lists in your signed-in browser and compares them over time. The free, no-install option is Instagram's own data download, compared by hand. Among Chrome extensions, pick by what you need after the list: just numbers and changes (InsTF, Backly), free mass unfollow (Followgap's listing says it is free to use), or history plus Excel exports (Followers Tracker). Never give an Instagram password to a tracker. None of the extensions below ask for one.

Checked on October 19, 2026 against each tool's own Chrome Web Store listing, linked in the table. Listings change, so check the current one before installing.

When to pick which

  • You want to check once, with nothing installed: request Instagram's data download with the Followers and following section, then compare the two lists. It is slow and manual but entirely official. The step-by-step is in Who doesn't follow me back on Instagram?
  • You want to know who unfollowed you: you need a tracker that keeps history, because Instagram keeps none. Every tracker can only report changes from its first scan onward, so install one before you need the answer.
  • You want to mass unfollow for free: Followgap's listing says it is free to use and includes mass unfollow with a whitelist. Followers Tracker needs Pro for any unfollowing, so Followgap is the better fit if free bulk unfollowing is the whole point.
  • You want a spreadsheet: Followers Tracker exports followers and following to CSV or real Excel with Pro, including username, full name, profile URL, user ID and private or verified flags. See how to export Instagram followers to Excel.
  • You only want daily numbers: InsTF's listing focuses on daily metrics (new, lost, mutual), which is lighter than a full cleanup tool.
  • You want to protect certain accounts during a bulk run: Followgap and Unfollow AI list a whitelist; Followers Tracker lets you shield accounts and skip verified ones.

Where Followers Tracker fits, honestly

Followers Tracker builds a local baseline at your first scan, then shows who unfollowed you and when, filtered by last scan, 7 days, or 1 to 12 months. It lists who doesn't follow you back and who you don't follow back, on your own account and on public profiles. Scans, history and those lists are free. Pro adds unfollowing (one click or paced bulk runs), automatic daily scans with desktop notifications, and CSV or Excel exports (see pricing). Follower history stays in Chrome extension storage, and CleanMySocial does not receive your lists.

What it cannot do: show unfollows from before your first scan, catch someone who follows and unfollows between two scans, or move your history to another browser.

Rules that apply to every tracker

  • Unfollowing fast gets accounts limited. Instagram rate-limits unfollows and can action-block an account that goes too fast. Every bulk tool above mentions delays or daily caps.
  • No tool can see the past. Instagram keeps no unfollower log. Day-one numbers are a baseline, not history.
  • A password request is a red flag. A tracker running in your browser already has your session, so it has no reason to ask for your Instagram login. A site or app that does can keep your password.

FAQ

What is the best free way to see who unfollowed me on Instagram?

Install a tracker that keeps history and run a scan now. Changes appear from the next scan. Followers Tracker's scans and unfollower history are free. Instagram's data download is free too, but you compare snapshots by hand.

Can any app show who unfollowed me before I installed it?

No. Instagram keeps no record of unfollows, so every tracker starts counting at its first scan.

Do Instagram unfollower trackers need my password?

The browser extensions compared here say they use your existing logged-in session and do not ask for your Instagram password. Avoid any app or site that does.

Is mass unfollowing on Instagram safe?

It is limited, not forbidden. Go slowly, use a tool with delays, and stop if Instagram shows an action-block warning.
