Best Tools to Delete Your Reddit and X (Twitter) History in 2026: Compared

Last verified October 19, 2026 · Written and verified by Vladyslav Verbytskyi

Short answer: Neither Reddit nor X has a delete-all button, so every tool repeats the delete action for you, from your signed-in browser or from a desktop app. The thing that separates them is reach. Both sites only page back so far through their own interface, so an old account needs either a tool that reads your official data export (several X tools do) or patience with what the site still lists. On Reddit, Reddit Cleaner and the free, open-source Power Delete Suite both filter and overwrite before deleting. On X, choose a tool that imports your X archive if you have years of posts. CleanerX does not import the archive, so it is the wrong pick for that job.

Checked on October 19, 2026 against each tool's own Chrome Web Store listing, GitHub page or pricing page, linked in the tables.

When to pick which

  • A few embarrassing posts: delete them by hand. No tool needed.
  • Years of Reddit comments, and you want control over which go: use a tool with filters and a review step. Reddit Cleaner lets you filter by subreddit, age, karma or keyword and see the matches before deleting. Power Delete Suite filters by subreddit, score and date for free, if you are comfortable running a bookmarklet.
  • Reddit, free, everything at once: Redditor Reborn's listing says it is free without limits, and Power Delete Suite is free and open source. Either is a better fit than a paid tool if cost is what decides.
  • Overwrite before deleting: Reddit Cleaner, Power Delete Suite, Redditor Reborn and Redact all edit text before or instead of deleting. That matters because copies of the original text can survive elsewhere (why overwrite first).
  • An X account older than a few thousand posts: request your archive (Settings → Your account → Download an archive of your data) and use a tool that imports it: TweetDelete, DeleteTweets or X (Twitter) Auto Cleaner. CleanerX only reaches what X's timeline still shows, so it cannot finish that job.
  • Unfollowing, blocking or muting on X as well as deleting: CleanerX covers unfollow and block or mute from a pasted list in the same panel. X (Twitter) Auto Cleaner also lists block and mute.
  • Many networks from one app, or scheduled deletion: Redact is built for that. Browser extensions here are single-network tools.

Where Reddit Cleaner and CleanerX fit, honestly

Reddit Cleaner works only on posts and comments your own account made. It filters by type, age, subreddit, karma or keyword, shows every match before anything is deleted, can overwrite text first, and can protect pinned or awarded items. It cannot get past what Reddit still lists on your profile, and deletion cannot be undone. CleanerX deletes posts and reposts, removes likes, and unfollows, blocks or mutes, with keyword and age filters and a safe test mode that stops after 10 items. It reaches X's recent window, not your whole archive. Both have a free daily allowance; paid access removes it (see pricing).

Limits no tool gets around

  • Reddit lists only so much. Profile listings page back to around a thousand items per listing. Tools that walk several sort orders (the Bulk Delete listing has Top and Controversial buttons) can surface more, but Reddit's own data request is the only complete list of what you posted.
  • X's timeline stops early. Without the archive file, any tool sees only your recent posts. The X (Twitter) Auto Cleaner listing puts that at 3,200 items and notes that replies can only be cleared through the archive. Read the wall you'll hit deleting tweets.
  • Rate limits slow every tool. Reddit and X both cap how fast deletes can go, so long runs pause and resume.
  • Deleted is not erased everywhere. Quotes, replies, screenshots and third-party archives keep their own copies. See what "delete" actually means on each network.

FAQ

What is the best way to delete all my Reddit comments?

Use a tool with filters and overwrite, and run it on everything your profile still lists. Reddit Cleaner and Power Delete Suite both filter by subreddit and date and edit before deleting. Then request your Reddit data to check what remains.

What is the best way to delete all my tweets?

For a recent or small account, any extension in the X table will work. For an old account, download your X archive first and use a tool that imports it, because X's timeline does not page back far enough.

Are free tweet and Reddit deleters safe?

The extensions compared here run in your signed-in browser and do not describe a password step. Avoid any service that asks for your password, and read a tool's permissions before installing.

Can I delete my whole Reddit or X history for free?

Yes, with time. Manual deletion is free, Power Delete Suite and Redditor Reborn are free, and several tools have daily free allowances that you can use every day.
